Knowledge of English
C1 level English language test with closed questions and some questions relating to medical encyclopaedic knowledge.
Fixing of 70% of the total mark from the English test. The remaining 30% is obtained by adding up the whole number of points (bonus points), based on the criteria described below and according to the algorithm:

Year of attendance
For Research Exchanges: More credits for the 1st year (+10) which gradually decrease as the year increases (up to +0 credits for the 6th year).
For Professional Exchanges: The opposite process, more credits for the 6th year (+10), which decrease as the year progresses (up to +4 for the 3rd year).

Points according to the quality of the student’s work as CP or Host
Some minimum obligations from each Contact Person and Host are rewarded through the Point System. Furthermore, the more active a Contact Person is, the more reward points increase based on specific measurable criteria. For example:
- Active throughout the exchange for 1 incoming +3 points, for 2 incomings +4 points, for 3+ incomings, + 5 points
- Active Participation in the Social Program (+1 point for the Local / +2 points for the National) max +3 points
- Organising a Social Event (e.g. trip, NFDP, get-to-know-you party, etc.) +2 credits for the same month. If you organised two or more activities in different months +3 credits
The maximum number of points a person can get from being a Contact Person is 11 points:
5 if you are CP to the maximum number of people (3 or more)
3 from participating in the Social Program (1 for participating in Local Socials and 2 for participating in Nationals)
3 from organizing Social Program activities (2 for organising activities in the same month and 3 for organising two or more activities in different months)
The reward of a Host:
If a candidate hosted a medical student for one month, 8 points are added to their final grade.
If a candidate hosted a total of two (2) incoming medical students, in the same or different months, 10 points are added to their final grade.
If the candidate hosted a total of three (3) or more incoming medical students, then 12 points will be added to his/her final grade.
The maximum number of points that can be earned from the Host position is 18 points:
12 if they hosted the maximum number of students (3 or more)
3 from participating in the Social Program (1 for participating in Local Socials and 2 for participating in Nationals).
3 from organizing Social Program activities (2 for organising activities in the same month and 3 for organising two or more activities in different months)
Furthermore, the student who hosts medical students from abroad, receives the sum of 100 euros for each student he/she hosts, which corresponds to the operating expenses during the exchange month.
Participation in a previous exchange
A person who has participated in an exchange of the same category as the one for which he/she is applying in the previous year (research or clinical) will have points deducted from the corresponding score according to the existing system.
In particular, a deduction of -2 points is foreseen if he/she has carried out the same type of exchange in the previous year.
Candidate who has been a CP & Host the previous year:
If the candidate has participated in the exchange program as both CP & Host, the maximum points from either CP or Hosts will be added.
Previous lack of good cooperation or cancellation of an exchange without good reason
Specifically provided:
-2 points for cancellation due to lack of communication (cancellation by LEO/LORE, NEO/NORE)
-3 points for cancellation after receipt of CA
However, if there was communication from the candidate to the HelMSIC Local Exchange Managers and the reason for the exchange cancellation by the student was serious, then points for a subsequent Exchange will not be reduced.
Active CP Criteria as outlined in the CP Manual of IFMSA :
- Communicating electronically with the incoming student to begin the introduction and to provide the first information about the incoming student’s place of residence and also his/her food.
- To provide him with some first information about the country, such as the cost of living or the climatic conditions that usually prevail during his exchange period.
- Picking up the incoming from their point of Arrival and taking them to their place of residence.
- Taking the incoming person to the clinic/laboratory where the exchange will take place, introducing the incoming person to the teacher in charge and giving him/her a tour of the hospital/university concerned.
- Solving minor problems that may arise for the incoming during his/her exchange (e.g. SIM card or obtaining documents from the school secretariat and using them to obtain the appropriate discount on public transport)
- Taking the incoming on a tour of the city of his/her exchange, so that he/she can show the incoming through his/her own eyes and the incoming can understand what it is like for a student to live in it today.
Active Host Criteria as outlined in the Host Manual of IFMSA:
- Communicating electronically with the incoming, so as to start the introduction and to give him/her the first information about the place of residence and food.
- The pick up of the incoming from his/her point of arrival and transfer to his/her place of residence. (optional)*
- The transfer of the incoming to the clinic/laboratory where the exchange will take place, the introduction of the incoming to the responsible professor and the tour of the respective hospital/university. (optional)*
- Provide accommodation in a safe and hygienic environment with hot water, heating or air conditioning
- Participate with him/her in joint activities and be present for most of the exchange. That is, not to be a host but a Host !!!
